the one to say I'm sorry

(This was supposed to post yesterday, but apparently Blogger was not working until today...so, here it is a little late...)

Before I get too many upset comments/texts/phone calls from grandmothers about that last post-"why was she just screaming on the floor?"(that seemed to be what she wanted to do) "why wouldn't you just pick her up and cuddle her?" (believe me, I tried) "why would you just sit there and take photos of your sad baby?" ( there wasn't much else to do).

I thought it would help to post these angel baby photos that I took a little later in the day. She was finally pretty happy, somewhat content to sit in the grass and watch Aiden play.

This week is her Birthday Week. Tomorrow, Friday the 13th, she will be one year old. I can't believe it's been one year since we got that call. That there was a little baby (they thought she was a boy, how dare they) being born, that would need some parents. Would we be interested? Um, yes please. And after two more whirlwind, emotional days, she was ours. She was tiny, sleepy, and SO quiet.

Now, one year later, she's still a little thing. Bigger, but petite. She still sleeps a lot, but definitely doesn't sleep through all the things she used to. Quiet? Not so much. She's rarely quiet. Maybe if there's a pacifier in her mouth, but a lot of the time she'd prefer to spit the thing out so she can make some noise. She is not as content as she used to be. She prefers to be carried and held every moment of the day. Sit her down on the floor and walk away? You'll get an earful. She can scream with the best of them. She loves food. I am pretty much feeding her something all day long. She absolutely loves her big brother. When he walks into the room, she lights up. And giggles. She's lazy. She does crawl, but try to make her walk, even with help, and she grunts and squeals in protest. She loves to eat, but she will not pick up food and place it in her own mouth. We've tried all the ways we can think of to make her learn, but she's just as stubborn as she is lazy. She's a bit of a beast. She hits. Pinches. Scratches. Even when you think she's being sweet and snuggly, she'll surprise you with a swipe across the face with her fingernails.

And even with the mood swings and tantrums, the stubbornness and laziness, the pinching and hitting, she's the best, sweetest, loveliest baby girl we've ever had. And oh my, we love her so.
