The place to go to fly a kite is across the street at the Sod farm. Can you see the little tiny shadow of a kite in the following picture? That's right. It didn't even take any effort to get that sucker up there.
I was a little unsure how the whole experience would go, since the last time we tried flying a kite in the air Aiden sobbed and screamed till we had it back in hand. He has issues with things flying in the air. (I honestly think we ruined him for life by sending his beloved rags into the air tied to balloons that would never return. He also cried when he saw the movie Up.) He was fine with the kite being up in the air this year though, so maybe our son's weird quirks are starting to disappear.
A rarely seen (in photos) smile. We couldn't get her to look at the kite in the air, she thought we were playing a game. And a kind of weird (but also strangely cute...) face.

Oh, I'm SO happy he's over the fear of his kite flying away. It makes flying kites so much more fun :)
