Easter fun

Aiden looks forward to Easter practically all year long. Not because of the fun stuff he gets from the Easter bunny, not because of the candy, and not because of the fun activities we do for Easter, but because he loves to color eggs. All year long we go through what Holiday is next, and what comes after that, and after that, and so on. Till we get to Easter, then he remembers that we get to color eggs at Easter time, and then we have to start counting down the days...regardless of what is really the next holiday.
So when we got to Moab, and they had the coloring stuff ready to go, he was a little excited. He got to color eggs at his Grandma G.'s house too, so he was happy. SO happy.

After coloring the eggs, the kids took their baskets into the hills for the first ever Extreme Wilderness Egg Hunt. It was a little treacherous at times, but all kids AND adults survived with no more than just scratches.

It was really a pretty fun egg hunt, with the exception of the few times the three oldest boys fought tooth and nail over the eggs, and whom they belonged to. The eggs were strewn randomly about all the way to the Brown Rocks at the very top of the hill.

You had to be a bit clever to find those ones hidden in the nooks and cranny's of the rocks. Thank goodness those eggs were bright and colorful so they were easy to spot.

Checking out the goods.

I made him stop for a minute to give the younger boys a chance to find some eggs. He was just a little anxious to get started again.

At the top near the Brown Rocks, my dad had a bonfire going so we could roast peeps and make s'mores.

In true Capri fashion, the little girl just sat around watching the fun and suckin' on her bink.

We found a good hill and let the kids roll their eggs down. It took a while to convince Porter that they wanted their eggs rolling down the hill. He kept running after the eggs, catching them and bringing them back to whoever was rolling them. See him scratching his head at the top of the hill? He was still a little confused about it all, but was on board.

And Capri got her first taste of peeps. she sat there sucking on it for a while till she had sucked it too small for my dad to hold onto, so he just stuck it in her mouth.

And oh, she loved it!

I'm a lame-o mom and got no pictures of the kids in their Easter clothes. Aiden got to spend Sunday evening over at his Grandma G's for a sleep over which has become a tradition every time we go to Moab. He loves getting his alone time with them. When I dropped him off, I sat and visited a while and Aiden started going "Hey mom, you need to go home now!" and so I did. We won't talk about how I locked my keys in the car and how Kent and Kyle had to stand out in the rain trying to break in while Capri sat screaming in the backseat of Kyle's car (he came to rescue me) because along with the keys, I had locked her pacifier in the car. No worries, we got into the car the next day, and made it home to Daddy who had to stay home for the weekend and work :( We sure had fun though, and it's always bittersweet to leave and make the five hour trip home.
